For February 2nd’s edition of Thing-a-Day, I created a trip to Newark, New Jersey to see Keith Jarrett, Jack DeJohnette, and Gary Peacock. I made some sketches along the way:
So awesome, Jason! I love how you recorded the trip, and how cool that you saw Keith Jarrett. Tonight I watched The Electric Company with my faculty friends.
These are fantastic, Jason. Lucky you to have gone to the Keith Jarrett trio performance. What kind of pen did you use in these? Your linework is so variable and wonderful!
Thanks, y’all! Yes, the concert was great, though I wish they’d done a few more of those funk-trance pieces they’re so good at, and maybe a few less generic (while excellent) post-bop piano trio standards.
I haven’t seen and Electric Company in, um, decades (help, I’m old!!!). I remember zoning out for anything that wasn’t Spider Man or Bloodhound Gang.
These are Sakura Pigma pens—a .05 Micron (fat for a Micron) and 3 Graphic (just plain fat).
