I didn’t love everything about There Will Be Blood, but Daniel Day-Lewis was really amazing. The other best things were the music and the production design/costumes.
My Thing-a-Day for February 4th is this picture of DDL’s character, Daniel Plainview.

Fantastic, again! Jason, I’ve been a fan of yours for a while now, but I’ve especially been impressed by your recent stuff. This is so bold and powerful—-and fun, too! What size is this?

Jason, this is really amazing! Great composition. Excellent colors. The mood is really something else. Mega Kudos!

Wow! Like, that should have been the illustration in the New Yorker for the review. Seriously.

Thanks, all! The original is 9“x12”. I like posting it too big to view easily on the computer screen—that’s how it felt on the movie screen (I was lucky enough to see it on the giant screen at BAM).

whoa! i love that. my favorite part was the milkshake part. every time i tell someone i thought the movie was funny, they look at me weird.

Thanks, Amber! The milkshake part was tremendous, yes. I was cracking up throughout the movie, but I did that for all the recent big bleak ones … No Country for Old Men, Michael Clayton, Until the Devil Knows You’re Dead, laugh riots all.
