Cats on the Rug

I did these two pieces months apart, with no particular notion that they’d be so similar. I bought the rug at Ikea when I was 13 or something. It’s a bit tattered, but still in the middle of my living room. The top drawing is of Cleo (my current roommate’s cat), the lower one is of Hannah (my previous roommate’s cat). Roommates’ pets are the best—all the benefits with none of the responsibility!

There are some stray lines on the Cleo drawing courtesy of my 22-month-old niece. The two of them became quite good buddies this weekend!

  1. It seems your rug is a good place to take a nap. Must be soft and comfy after all the years of wear. I happen to like you niece’s additions as well! They add movement :)

  2. Nice kitty sketches! The rug alone is worth capturing too.

  3. Are you down with O.P.P.? Yeah, I’m down with O.P.P. (other people’s pets).

  4. Thanks, guys! The rug is fun to draw (or to pretend to draw and just make up my own zany pattern!).
