Lovely people and yummy vegan shakes are to be found at Sip:

Happy Hour at the Someday Lounge is one hell of a deal. I got two good drinks and two hot sandwiches with side salads for $11:

Taqueria Los Gorditos is quite possibly the best thing in Portland:

The Bye and Bye sets the standard for what a vegan bar should be, even if these people look kind of annoying:

  1. You do these so well. Snatches of life captured for us. It must be difficult doing all these informal works – difficult enough with a camera! But then, this way, you can make marks and complete the work later? I enjoy them all.

  2. Can’t say enough about your work, so I have just nominated you for an award on my blog…no pressure to participate either! Cheers!

  3. I don’t know…but I could swear that ‘place’ affects your drawing process enough to make this work different from your NYC work.
    Very evocative and interesting.

  4. These sketches are fantastic. My favorite is the trailer, but they are all great. So much attitude in these sketches.

  5. Thanks, you all!

Adam, I generally do the colors later, but all the ink lines on the spot. Those two at the bottom were done a lot faster!

Karen, thanks so very much for the award! I prefer not to participate in that particular meme, but I am truly touched and honored by the nomination.

Rock, I’d been wondering about what you mentioned. I was wondering if it would happen, and I have to say that I’m not sure I see it … perhaps I’m so wrapped up in the differences of the things/places I’m drawing (of New York versus Portland or wherever else) that I can’t notice any stylistic changes.

Rob, thanks. I think the Sip trailer people are going to use that for their own promotions. I’m excited they like it so much!

I know it wouldn't be a big deal for many people, but it is for me! Besides, I didn't have a chance to make another thing that day. (The occassion for getting dolled-up was a Krinkle Bearcat show.)

I am running off now to the Lantern Festival organized by fellow thing-a-dayer Ranjit Bhatnagar.

For day 23, I went to his lantern-building workshop and built this lantern:
